Eon Next Home App - EV charge issues
-
What’s going on with the Eon Next Home App? I have an Eon Smart Drive tariff that uses smart features to charge when demand is low. The latest update is not connecting correctly and having reset the connection (as per the app guidance), it is asking for the car registration and mileage! Once this information is entered it will not proceed, asking me to ‘please provide a valid information’.

Best Answer@mattwhitt89 - it's apparently down to changes to the VW-API, not the Eon app itself
BTW:It's asking for the VIN, not registration

Hey there 👋 @mattwhitt89
Welcome to our Eon Next Community, it's lovely to meet you 😊
Have you been able to take a look at the above suggested by @geoffers and are you still experiencing issues with the app when it comes to charging you EV? -
@Indyk_EONNext hi. Thanks for reaching out, I am still experiencing issues with the smart functionality not working. The team are looking into this, but it is impacting my ability to benefit from the smart charging functions.

@mattwhitt89 has this been resolved for you? I have had the same issues with the app since Friday (i think). Just wont connect. I have a BMW I4 so not sure if this is the same issue as you as you have mentioned it being a VW update? I have been on to E.on, however apart from telling me to delete the app and install again, they havent provided any solutions

@CB79 hey. Still not resolved yet but eon are looking into it. We have an Audi Q4 and since the last update it simply won’t engage the smart charge function. The online chat team have been responsive and suggested a complaint is logged so that is where I am at.
I require the car for work so still having to put it on charge at the higher rate, but requested this is refunded.
move noticed deleting and reinstalling the app this time round didn’t work and since it’s asked for mileage and VIN number the connection is not being made. Awaiting an update this week. -
@mattwhitt89 @CB79 - guys: check out some of the posts on this FB group : there's an Eon developer who monitors there, and responds and seems to sort out problems (though it beats me why Eon's actual support are unable to do this 😲)

This post is one of the users here who is getting his VW API connection issue fixed

@mattwhitt89 thanks for the update. Yes they said they will look into it for me too and suggested a complaint also. Doesn’t seem to ever achieve anything though.
The app’s and general functionality are pretty poor and clearly not tested before being released and if you can actually chat to someone (not in real time ever though) no one seems to know anything either.
I’ll check out the fb post noted below. Maybe they will help -
@mattwhitt89 - Although you currently are unable to take advantage of the smart charging slots outside of core off-peak hours, your electricity is still at off-peak rates for the whole household between midnight and 6am so there's no reason that you can't just schedule the car/charger to charge between these times (without using the "Next Home" app)
