Smart meter issues

    I have Next Drive fixed v23, and two cars I’d like to charge in the cheap night tariff. However my smart meter is not sending readings due to bad coverage in my area, so how can I check I am being charged the cheaper night rate?
    I keep getting messages that my meter is not communicating, and I have no detailed meter reading history in the app.
    When I go to the app to try to send meter readings I can’t. The button is greyed out and a message says I don’t need to as my meter is sending readings every half hour.
    How do I force the app to get my readings manually, and how do I inform them of the day and nights rates separately?
    Help please!

    @Javs - unfortunately if your meter is not working as a Smart Meter you will be unable to continue on Next Drive as Eon need to pick up your half hourly readings directly from the meter

    Are you in the north of the country where connection uses long range radio (LRR) or the south which uses 2g/3g cellular phone signal? If it is a connectivity problem, they are now fitting the latest generation comms hubs which are 4G cellular hubs, so you may need upgrading to one of these

    Have you just moved from another supplier to Eon?

    If so there is currently an ongoing industry wide issue where the new supplier cannot get access to your meter on change of supplier, which could be your problem

    @Javs

    some history of the smart meter communications might help. Where are you, how long has the meter been in place, what communications have you had with customer services. If your meters can’t be read are all your bills estimations?

    I note in your profile you described your meter as “standard”. That may not be correct but more clarity is required, as sorting out the meter connectivity issue is the first step in solving this.

    @geoffers is on the right track. But sometimes these cases take ages to resolve and require meter replacement.

    Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and think the smart meter programme is a waste of our money. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

    Hey there 👋 @Javs

    It's lovely to meet you and welcome to our Eon Next Community! 😊

    I can see you mentioned you have issues with your smart meter communicating, as @geoffers stated if we are unable to pull readings via your smart meter this may affect you being eligible for the Next Drive tariff. I would suggest you to contact our customer service team so they are able to look into this for you and have our smart team check your connectivity for your smart meters.
