The next #PowerUp event will be on 4 April 2026 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. Your target is to use 1% more electricity than you usually would during this time.
can someone please tell me if last Saturdays power up usage is taken into account.
with it saying what you usually use in this time I would of thought Eon would exclude power up events from there calculations.
i used an extra 19kw in last weeks session so if it is included it could be difficult to make any savings this time.
@StillWaiting Hey! We have seen a bit of discussion around this recently on this thread which might be of interest to you 👉 PowerSwitch “Power-up”
Your "usual consumption" is determined by averaging your electricity use during the past 60 comparable days, excluding any days with a PowerSwitch event. This average is calculated for the same time of day and the same type of day (weekday or weekend). 😊

That's a good question you've raised there, and I can surely raise this with the team for a more definite answer! 😊 Have you received an email with the break down as this maybe give you an idea of the savings?

It is based on average consumption. For the same time slot? For what period?
Is the 20p credit for whole kWh, or is it pro rata.
Is the credit just for the excess over the average, or is it for the whole amount used in the time period if the average is exceeded?
As far as I can see, it may be worth my while for the first few events, but will probably become less so quite quickly.
It really needs sufficient detail for me to calculate potential savings (or losses). With the information available at present, this is totally impossible.
@Indyk_EONNext
never get an email of the breakdown, just how much I have saved.
But it would be great if you could find out if previous power ups count as normal consumption if they fall within the same time / day of the week the following week.
Uswitch provide very detailed terms and conditions for their events - including the periods over which the previous average is calculated, what happens if those periods overlap with other events etc. Also a breakdown of kWh and reward.
I have so far been unable to find similar for e.on’s…
I'm skipping the next powerup event, because the 15p/kWh discount still leaves it significantly more expensive than using power from the battery, charged at overnight rate.
The 20p discount on previous events was still a bit more expensive, but just worthwhile to top up the battery and hot water.
I think the Octopus approach, as I understand it, of giving free power during such periods, would provide real encouragement.
My normal grid usage during the powerup times so far is zero. But if the extra usage counts towards the base figure the new base figure means that some of my usage will be at peak rate. So really not worthwhile.
I think e.on really needs to publish its algorithm in a usable form, otherwise I am very reluctant to take part, unless the benefit is obvious.
FWIW, I can shift from 10 to 20 kWh over a one hour slot if the incentive is there
Thanks but I’m also reluctant to use the power ups until someone from eon can tell me if previous power ups are excluded.
The offer states use 1% more than you would usually use. Today’s power ups overlaps last Saturday power up, so if power ups are included in usual usage you may not save anything, it may even cost you more depending on how you are shifting energy. Can’t be that difficult for someone to answer from eon, are previous power ups excluded from normal use calculations. @Indyk_EONNext
Power Up - WOW I reckon overall I can make 0.56p per extra kWh used during the period.
EON I think you need to rethink this. Some of us are on an EV rate. With the current Next Drive V22 @ 28.44 peak and 9p off peak the savings aren't worth the effort. I've already moved the big power users to off peak.
If I should move some from the off peak (@ 9p off peak) to the powerup period (28.44 peak - 20p power up payment) 8.44p cost instead of 9p. Difference 0.56p.
If will take a while just to earn a cup of coffee.
