Hi, I am seeking advice regarding a situation involving my late mother. She passed away and left me her solar panels in her will. A family member still lives in the house and is not very tech-savvy. Since their name is not on the ownership documents, they havent been unable to report the figures to Eon.
I live pretty far away, and my disability makes travel difficult for me. I would like to know whether I can retain ownership of the solar panels and receive the funds generated by them directly. I appreciate your help.

This forum is primarily Customer to Customer so best thing if above doesn't come up with the information you are looking for, is to give the FIT Team a call on 08085015218. Lines are open 9am - 5pm Monday to Thursday, 9am - 4pm Friday.
My condolences on your loss This will be a complex issue to resolve. Legally the ownership of everything relating to your mother’s estate will reside with the executor in the first instance. While you are a beneficiary under the will, you do not own the panels or any income from them yet, and the process is likely to be long and complex. Separating the panels from the rest of the property will require legal assistance - and few will have dealt with this sort of situation before. It might be sensible for the beneficiaries to consider creating a deed of variation to divide the estate on a better basis than set out in the will.
As a first step I would suggest the executor contacts the bereavement team and explain the issue(s). Forum members can offer suggestions when any problems arise , which in this matter would seem highly likely.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and think the smart meter programme is a waste of our money. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Please accept our sincere condolences! We know this is a difficult time, and we thank you for the clarity you've provided while managing these complex affairs.
The Feed-in Tariff (FIT) contract is typically tied to the person who owns the system, not necessarily the person who lives in the property or pays the standard energy bill.
Discussing this directly with the FIT team is the best course of action. They can immediately advise you on the necessary documentation, help with the transfer form, and set up your payment schedule 🙂
