Recently I began to receive texts from Eon saying my meter was not communicating & a new one was to be supplied. In typical fashion Eon did not specify fuel, so by this time I thought they were referring to my electric meter & arranged a date for the new meter.
On the agreed date an engineer arrived & it became quickly apparent that he had brought a gas meter with him!
I pointed out that Eon had already removed the gas meter & this was why they weren't getting a signal! The engineer had a phone conversation with someone presumably at Eon & left.
The following Monday I got some bright & breezy texts from Eon trying to arrange another date on which to install the meter.
I made a complaint through email & got apologies from the complaints department & finalising the final bill for the meter. That was in July & finalised (at least I thought so) by the 1st July.
Yesterday 1st September I got letter dated 26th August 2025 wanting me to book an appoint for my new meter!
I'm a retired IT Manager of 40 years experience & usually switch suppliers on a regular basis. I'm now 80 & can tolerate incompetence less well than I could when I was younger, but I've run out of the usual options. Maybe my next step is the ombudsman or probably a solicitors letter, unless of course someone can pick this up & get it sorted? I don't normally suffer mental health issues but feel this has gone on long enough and it is just not good enough that Eon can behave in such a plainly bad manner like this.
