I am currently on a fixed term tariff which ends on 23/10/23. My monthly bills have already gone up before the price cap.
I have not been using any more energy or gas than i used to so please explain the reason why bills have gone up?
I think the best thing to do here is check what you are on. If you are on a fix then you will continue to pay those prices for the whole period of the contract; although if you are on a variable tariff such as our Next Flex things can chop and change 🥋. If you are certain you are on a fix I would also check your payment method, one of the reasons you might have had different prices is due to a variable direct debit - maybe check that? If you are on a variable it means that the payment will be different monthly and you are essentially paying for each unit you use. If you are on a fixed term contract and a variable direct debit, things might get higher due to usage being higher. If you want to pay a set price each month then I would suggest changing to a set direct debit (if you aren't on one of these already).

I understand that not everyone pays by direct debit, and that is fine!
From that date I can gather that the contract started in October 2021. This was after a price increase that was set last year - this could help explain why things have been more expensive than before? I advise that you go through your new contract and the old one and have a look at your unit rates and standing charges and see the difference. As you have taken out a new contract you would've agreed to prices different to those set before 😊.

Hi Hannah. I am on Next 2 Year v7 fixed term contract which ends on 17/10/23. I am not on direct debit and do not want to set one up due to having the risk of huge bills coming out every month which no one can explain the reason for. I understand that the bill might be slightly cheaper to pay by direct debit but it doesnt explain why my bills have gone up every month on a fixed term contract.
