There is one that I know of being run by OVO. My friend Blastoise186 mentioned it to me but he's not involved with it himself. It's effectively a Vehicle To Grid (V2G) trial where the car is hooked up to a special charger that can export spare juice back to the grid, as well as recharge the car like a normal charger. The other kind of possible bi-directional charging is Vehicle To Home (V2H) where all exported energy is primarily targeted at your home than the grid.

Neither of us can speak on behalf of those on the trial though, so you may want to ask the trialists directly.

@Beki_EONNext Imagine being able to dip into the 70 kWh stored in your car at will? This power could be solar produced on your roof or supplied off peak. You have your own power station. Bi directionality is a complete game changer. Eon will hate it! Utilities in California already plotting against it.

Why use the electric vehicle to store energy when one can install domestic Tesla batteries on location?

@Landmark Not suggesting that you dispense with home batteries but you could probably cope with one less. Tesla powerwall batteries are expensive Having a decent number of kWh available via home batteries would be very expensive
