I had an email this evening asking if i would take part in the energy saving scheme tomorrow night, it involves cutting down on usage in return for free credit on my account.
The figure they quoted was £0.09 and no that isn`t a misprint, for that i need to use minimal energy for one hour.
So tempting )))

i signed up just for the hell of it, that 9p could come in handy.

That 9p will be for a 20% reduction I guess. Consume nothing at all and you might get all of 45p 😂

I did the last one, was told I could potentially earn 48p. Decided to give it a go to see what the result would be. It's only me, my other half and the dog in the house so decided to sit in the dark for an hour on our laptops basically 😂 turn everything off that was left on stand by, and only the essentials like fridge/freezer etc was on. Reduced electric by 79% and earned £1.45. When the scheme was announced I was expecting the free credit to be double figures considering bills are averaging £££ per month.

And that is how Eon Next have decided to implement the National Grid's Demand Flexibility Service -the reward bit for its customers - although one can say Eon Next is implementing a Demand Reduction Service as there is little incentive to be flexible and shift usage to another part of the day as Eon Next will only reward the kWh reduction (compared to your baseline usage) that takes place within the event period from 1830-1930. For 28p @ 20% reduction there is little scope for meaningful savings for this household as all the cooking has been finished by then and we are settling down to watch TV with minimal lighting anyway 🤔 - I'd be better off trawling my local Tesco car park for loose change 🤣 so I'll not be busting a gut on Wednesday for this one.

I don't see how EonNext can afford the massive incentives they are offering to take part in their energy shift.😂

Morning everyone 😴. I know what you mean, and it can be hard to stay motivated for only a couple of pennies 💰 so sometimes it can feel a little pointless.
Whether its pennies or pounds it's still money you have managed to save 😊

But Energy Shift is NOT saving. If you are on a single tariff then you use the same energy at another time.

Everyone, get over to Hildebrand Bright who are offering up to £1000 for their Glow Delight event tonight.

I think that Eon Next are cheating their customers and Energy Shift is a CON and has been a CON since day one. On 15/11/2022 I could earn around £3.72 by using under 1.03kWh which I achieved but they say I failed and won't pay up.

If you shift usage you don’t actually save anything though. If you simply switch things off that you would otherwise want to have on then you don’t have to wait for an event to do that. You could sit in the dark all night with no telly whenever you want to save money.
